No women talk to each other in District 9 at all; there are no major female characters, and as far as I could tell no female alien characters (but who can know?), although due to subtitle labeling during the brief interviews of women the movie does end up having more than one named woman.

The presentation of the gender of the aliens is interesting. I assumed they were male because they had male names and the parent-alien and child-alien called each other "son" and "father." However, thinking about the movie later, I'm not convinced the aliens have a gender that we would recognize, especially since only one alien seemed necessary for reproduction. I suspect they were assumed to be male because dude is the default gender. I wonder if this was an intentional commentary on social assumptions about gender?

Also, I definitely could have done without the African-people-eating-white-Christian-babies angle.
