Clash Of The Titans
Apr. 19th, 2010 12:04 pmClash of the Titans actually squeaks a pass, surprisingly. It has five named female characters (six if you count Medusa), Marmara, Danae, Cassiopeia, Andromeda, and Io.
Marmara, as is the normal fate of mothers, dies early. Danae is another mother; she gets two lines, is raped, and dies. Io never meets any other women. Medusa, interestingly, lives in a temple forbidden to other women, so she is spared harming them.
Cassiopeia and Andromeda are mother and daughter; they exchange lines, briefly, on Andromeda's beauty and how it is unwise to taunt deities, so that's a pass.
Overall, though, it's an incoherent sausagefest. The female characters aren't terrible - they have a certain amount of agency - but they're very clearly secondary to the hijinks of man and God. (Male Gods.)
